I have opinions about glassware. This will surprise no one. The Riedel Vinum Cognac glass is, strictly speaking, designed for brandy — but its tulip shape, generous bowl, and narrowing rim make it exceptional for any spirit you want to give your full attention to. Neat pours. Single malt Scotch. A particularly good amaro. It concentrates aromatics without being precious about it.
The Vinum line is Riedel's machine-made range, which means it's durable enough to actually use and priced such that losing one to a dinner party isn't an occasion for grief. The crystal is thin-walled — you'll notice the difference immediately from whatever you were drinking out of before.
I own twelve. This should tell you something.
